Is this unheard of: can a plant 'skip' flowering? How can you say that a plant misses one year's flowering because of unfavourable conditions (the cause it's not important I'm focusing on the result). Should I rephrase it or is there a n acceptable way to say this?
You can say that a plant has failed to bloom. There is probably a technical term for this but I don't know it.

I should say "fails/failed to flower that year". After all, it's not certain that the plant will ever flower again, is it? 👁 Smile :)
I think miss is more usually used than skip. Books on botany do talk about plants missing a flowering season
e.g. "polyanthemos missed flowering in 4 of the 30 years."
Thank you all! Missing a flowering season is just was I need! thoguh 'fail to bloom' is not bad either...
