What is a split-screen reality? The following 'The Atlantic' article uses the term 'split-screen' as an adjective twice:

"Trump's surreal split-screen reality"

"Trump’s flurry of Twitter activity amid the drama on Capitol Hill created a split-screen effect that was jarring, but not unfamiliar."

A Surreally Split-Screen Day in Washington
A split screen occurs when two films/videos are shown side by side on one screen. The viewer can thus see two things happening at the same time.

As a video-game player, I understand its literal meaning, but I'm more interested in its figurative meaning.
It often seems to be the case that the world in which Trump sends out messages via Twitter is not the same world in which the Captiol Hill lives, Trump's reality is one screen, Capitol Hill (or much of the rest of the world or even the White House sometimes) is the other.

Yes, I think JulianStuart describes it well. He seems to talk to his “audience” about one version of reality (one screen) while we are simultaneously aware that he is actually immersed in a different one (the other screen).
