I do not quite understand the word "stature" in the following sentence: "Un jury, régulièrement renouvelé de professionnels indépendants, doit conférer au lauréat une stature qui récompense un œuvre indépendamment du marché. " Does it mean 'fame'?
I suggest "calibre"
Thank you! Can I than phrase it as follows: "A regularly renewed jury of independent professionals is to elevate the prize winner to a calibre which would reward the winner’s work independently of the market. "?
