What´s the meaning of "stinging rain"?
It appears in U2´s song Bullet the Blue sky

e.g. In the howlin´ wind comes a stingin´rain See it drivin' nails
Into the souls on the tree of pain.

Como sting es picar (lo que hacen los insectos) pues es como una lluvia que se clava como agujas.

Cabe decir que, en este contexto, "la lluvia que pica" puede ser una metáfora para las balas de una guerra.
