Good day. These word combinations from the movie Loving Vincent not clear to me at all.
Who can help to make it clear?

- Here you are. Cider?
- If you don't mind.
- Straw roofing makes you thirsty.
What are the speakers doing as they say these words, Nura?
Well, I haven't seen the film.

But there's an article here that tells me (my highlighting):
As Armand talks to the people of Auvers who knew Van Gogh when he lived there, he meets The Old Man thatching a roof, who tells Armand what he remembers about the โ€˜painter fellowโ€™ as the two share some cider.

"Thatching a roof" is exactly what I'd expect the first speaker to be talking about when he says "Straw roofing makes you thirsty".

The Wiki article on thatching includes this description:
Thatching is the craft of building a roof with dry vegetation such as straw, water reed, sedge (Cladium mariscus), rushes, heather, or palm fronds, layering the vegetation so as to shed water away from the inner roof.โ€‹
It also includes pictures of thatched roofs.๐Ÿ‘ Smile :)
