The evidence in favor of capitalism is thus compellingly suggestive: From 1750 to 1850, when the population of Great Britain nearly tripled, the virtually exclusive choice of those flocking to the country for jobs was to work for private capitalists.

According to the dictionary, "suggestive" means making one think of something. I wonder how this apply to the above sentence.

The evidence is that people chose to work for private capitalists, which suggests the author's conclusion.
