take back

Hi All,

If I say wrong things to someone and want to apologize to him:

Should I say:

I'm taking back what I said

or
I take back what I said
or
I'll take back what I said

Which one is the most proper? And which one is correct as grammaticality?

Thanks in advance
The usual way to say it is "I take back what I said" though you might also hear "I'm taking back..."

I would expect to hear "I'll take back..." if the taking back was conditional on something happening.

Note that "taking back" a statement need not always be the same as an apology. An apology conveys regret. A person who takes back a statement does so to acknowledge a mistake or a change in circumstances.

Many thanks for your reply Barque
