Hi all.
I need to confirm whether this sentence is correct or not.

Did you take back the book?

In what situation can this sentence be uttered? Wouldn't it be better to say, "Did you return the book?"

Did you take back the book can actually have two different meanings. It can mean Did you return the book, as you suggest, but it may also mean something like Did you take the book away [from somebody] again. Normally context will make clear which meaning is intended, but if you want to be unambiguous then return is probably a better word to use here.
