Throw on: to put something, such as an article of clothing, on one's body carelessly or in haste. In this usage, a noun or pronoun can be used between "throw" and "on."
Odours are known to regulate moods, thoughts and even dating decisions, which is why any serious romantic will throw on the eau de toilette before going out for a night on the town.(Scents and sensitivity, Log, the Economist 2007/12/ 6)
Hi, everyone,
What's the bold phrase mean? I thought it was "spraying", but it's obviously far away from the definition in a dictionary. If they are the serious romantics, why they spray the perfume hastily and carelessly?
