Hi everyone,

I'm trying to translate "the titular theme song" in the following sense:

(adj.) titular - derived from a title; "performed well in the titular (or title) role"; "the titular theme of the book"

i.e. the song title is the same as that of the film.

Is there a French equivalent?

J'ai d'abord pensé à "chanson titre" mais je crois que cela veut déjà dire "theme song". Peut-être "éponyme" : le thème musical éponyme -à condition que ce soit la chanson qui donne son titre du film, et pas l'inverse. Sinon "le thème musical du film éponyme".

The song is probably derived from the title of the film, so I think I shall use le thème musical du film éponyme.

melu85: I'm referring to "A nous la liberté" (1931) directed by René Clair. The theme song has the words "à nous la liberté" and I believe it is also the name of the song.
