toddler words

When I first read below paragraph, I could not totally figure out below bolded words.

He remembers Teens trundling back and forth across the lawn with all her stuffed toys packed into it (Mrs Beasley holding pride of place, of course), telling them that they were going on a nik-nik in the woods, with devil-ham samwitches and ginger-snap tooties for children who could behave. Source: Finders Keepers by Stephen King

Then it occurred to me that they might be toddler words: nik-nik for picknic, samwitches for sandwiches, and tooties for cookies. Is this right ?

Thank you
Reflecting a small child's pronunciation difficulties rather than standard baby-talk. For instance it's quite hard and complicated to say NDW in sequence. My daughter said 'sangle' instead of 'sandle'. Maybe it is easier to say 'tootie' than 'cookie' but I'm not convinced.
By standard baby-talk, I mean calling toes 'tootsies', or a horse 'a gee-gee'.
