Je voudrais savoir si on utilise le mot Tom Pouce pour décrire un enfant ou un bébé...pour exemple dans la phrase suivante:

La maternité est sans frontière et représente bien un mystère avec l'évolution parfaitement réglée d'un Tom Pouce.

No, it doesn't work. Yet, you might address a baby/toddler as "Tom Pouce", though it's not frequent.
Why no go for something more simple like "bébé (humain)", "futur bébé", or even "petit d'homme" if you want to give it a Jungle Book twist...?
Tom Pouce is the French version of Tom Thomb (the fairy tale). So I guess you should leave Tom Thomb...
