Hello,
Context:
The quote "Excuses are the first exit on the highway of success" was never so true. "Turning up" was enough. In fact, in one dealership the management had not even turned up! The "A" players were bundles of energy and joy - spreading enthusiasm in their teams and creating energy and will to succeed.
In this text, the narrator is a CEO who pays unexpected visits to various dealerships under his automotive company. He says that in some of them he was met by lots of excuses and lethargy from the employees. But then he mentions that there was one dealership where "the management had not even turned up", which means that this was an arranged visit to the dealership. What is the point of mentioning that, especially that he says in the last sentence here that the "A" players (a term he uses to describe the best performers) were positive and joyful, etc.., given that they would be so anyway since it's an arranged visit from the management. Am I missing something here?
