upholding

Hi everybody. In my country students enrolled in any undergraduate program must uphold his/her degree work in order to get a bachelor degree. How do you call this term in English, I mean the noun: "upholding" or "support" of a degree work? Thanks in advance.
I'm not sure I know what you mean.

Do you mean that they must "satisfy the degree requirements"? Please explain, with examples if possible.
I mean they must do an oral presentation which will be graded by a panel of judges. In my country we say "Sustentaciรณn del trabajo de grado". It is like a defence or an exposition of the work.
Are you referring to the undergraduate thesis, the culmination of the work done during the undergraduate career, required at some universities and colleges?

If so, then you would say that the student must "orally defend his/her thesis before a panel." The noun would be "(oral) defense."

Note that we would call the "trabajo de grado" a thesis (in the United States, at least) and not a "degree work." It is generally understood that the thesis is the final step of the degree program.
