can a speed be vertiginous - referring to something spreading at a vertiginous speed?

i.e. the internet is spreading in the world at a vertiginous speed / at an increasing rate?

If not does anyone know of a word that is better suited?

Thank you.
Hi Manska

I had to look the word up, because I wasn't sure of it, but when I saw the word "dizzy" then I knew exactly.

so...

"The internet is spreading in the world at a dizzying pace" (or the internet is spreading over the globe at a dizzying pace)

would say to me that it is spreading faster than fast.

It sounds more like what I think you are saying.
i like it!! perfect, merci!
