Qué significa en este contexto "weighed in"
It´s a metaphor. I think it means that they arrived and "lent weight" to the proceedings.
Hola. En este contexto, "to weigh in" se traduce por "intervenir" en el debate.

En otros, asimismo como metáfora, el verbo puede significar "arrimar el hombro", "contribuir" o "ofrecerse a ayudar."

Es probable que esta palabra implique ofrecer sus opiniones con cierta euforia, alteración; si es que la relacionamos con el boxeo.
Aunque no sé que relación tendrá pero quizá esas ideas se pueden mezclar. Sobre todo para las personas que la utilizan en el boxeo.
