Parabuthus est un genre de scorpions de la famille des Buthidae.

Distribution

Les espèces de ce genre se rencontrent en Afrique australe, en Afrique de l'Est et en Arabie[1].

Les espèces du genre Parabuthus mesurent entre 40 et 140 mm selon les espèces[2],[3].

Le venin des scorpions de ce genre est considéré comme potentiellement mortel pour l'homme[3].

Ce genre a été décrit par Pocock en 1890.

Heterobuthus[5] a été placé en synonymie par Thorell en 1893[6].

Riftobuthus[7] a été placé en synonymie par Kovařík, Lowe, Plíšková et Šťáhlavský en 2016[8].
