About Jonathan Spurgeon

Jonathan Spurgeon is a Video Producer/Video Editor at GameRant. He is an indie game enthusiast with a passion for game development. His YouTube channel, Blurbs, is an active outlet for this passion, allowing him to break down the finner details of games and highlight the excellence hidden within their design.

Favorite Games

My favorite games are Journey, Mario Odyssey, and Elden Ring.

Journey was the game that spawned my love for the industry, as it built an emotional bond between me and the medium.

Mario Odyssey is the perfection of 3D platforming(one of my favorite genres) and it is packed full of unique ideas and incredible play experimentation.

Elden RIng is big dark souls....and I love dark souls...so yeah.

Favorite Console

The Nintendo Switch is the greatest console of all time as its form factor and game library combine to make something for kids, adults, and even me...I'm both. It has Mario Odyssey, Zelda Botw, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Super Smash Bros Ultimate, which are some of my favorite games. All this and I can play it on the plane, the train, or in the park.

Proudest Gaming Achievement

I just beat this game called "a difficult game about climbing". It was an insanely hard/frustrating experience, but I pushed through all of my self-doubt. The week I beat it I also ran my fastest marathon and it kind of reminded me that life is cool when you do things that are hard.
