RUSSIA, BRYANSK, Mar. 11 — On Mar. 10, Ukrainian forces struck the Kremniy El microelectronics factory in Russian Bryansk with Storm Shadow air-launched missiles, reported the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the General Staff, Kremniy El is critically important for the production of Russian “high-precision” weapons.

The plant specializes in discrete semiconductor devices and integrated microchips, which serve as the “brains” and “nervous system” of modern weapons, including Iskander missiles.

The Russian state corporation NPO Almaz-Antey is among the Kremniy El’s main customers, which is responsible for the development and production of almost the entire range of Russian air defense systems, said Information and Analytical Center Militarnyi.

The Russian state corporation Rocket Technologies also purchases Kremniy El’s products to produce cruise missiles, including the Kh-59 and Kh-69, as well as other missile weapons, including the Kh-101 and Kh-555, which Russia is actively using to shell Ukrainian territory.

The Ukrainian attack brought significant damage to the Kremniy El’s production facilities. The General Staff is still calculating the damages the attack caused Russia.

Since 2022, Kremniy El has suffered six attacks, including drone attacks in 2023 and 2024, said Militarnyi.

Storm Shadow is a Franco-British long-range air-launched cruise missile designed to strike ground targets, which are well protected by air defense systems.
