Does everyone that writes new lyrics to Hey Joe pay owe Billy Roberts / Third Palm Music a fee (or royalties)? Or does it only apply to versions that utilize the same lyrics or non-rearranged music? Any idea how THAT works? Great blog, btw… Very cool.

Dear Sir, my brother once played in a band back in 1970. One of their songs was a Jimi Hendrix tune called Hey Joe. I once owned a copy but over the years it too disappeared. As I was wondering around on my phone, I came across this site withas your list of different versions of this song. I thought to myself is it possible, then lo and behold there it was. The band name ” Mothers Orphans ” was on your list. Yesterday, April 18th, marked the 45th anniversary of my brothers death on Saturday in 1970. His name is Anthony Santoni from Long Island, NY. I am searching for a copy of this memory. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help. ….

There’s also an incredible version by the Roumanian Blues Band Nightlosers on their CD “Cinste lor” (released 2013). With violin, ukulele and cimbalom! For me one of the best versions beside Jimis. See also Youtube for some videos of live performanes by this band indcluding their version of “Hey Joe”.

Can anyone point me in the direction of getting a copy or even a digital file of Hey Joe done by Al Berry and Doug Pinnick? it’s from 2003 I believe. It looks like Steve Lukather and Billy Sheehan also played on it. Any help would be appreciated.
