I am a Catholic Reiki degree 1 practitioner and guided imagery writer from Texas, and I go to a small liberal arts college in New York.
I have two chronic illnesses, cystic fibrosis and cf-related diabetes (http://www.cff.org), which have caused me to seek out alternative healing methods. I have a big problem with (yet am dependent on) anti-biotics, and with other toxic medications given to sick people (chemotherapy and radiation to cancer patients). The idea of making the body weaker in order to kill off bacteria (and cancer) doesn't make sense to me. I have been trying to live a life where I invest more money and time on:
High quality foods for maximum energy instead of unsatisfying junk food Acupuncture and herbal remedies instead of drugs Chiropractic instead of surgery and hospital bills Yoga, reiki, massage, and reflexology to balance myself Guided imagery and meditation to relax instead of taking anxiety pills
I know that many of you may be dependent on western medicine, and I do not mean to make you feel guilty. I merely want to show you that there are alternatives that may work for you. Because of my illnesses I rely a lot on western medicine, but my ultimate goal is to stay healthy without anti-histamines, antibiotics, or anti-depressants. I want to put good things into my body, not toxic ones. Our bodies are truly amazing things, and I think their complexities are often overlooked.
I want to also add that I believe in the power of prayer, and that it is another way we can heal ourselves as well as others.
Please post suggestions regarding any healing techniques you know of. We are here to learn and help each other.
