Lately we have been lounging around watching Netflix and spreading ourselves around various websites.

The recent viewing has been

Shameless(UK version)
Being Human (UK version)

We also watched a few Portlandia`s and one Raising Hope but mostly we have been on the English shows. I grew up with English shows of course but not the two mentioned above. My all time favourite show is still The Wire but have really enjoyed the two above UK shows.

I also watched a documentary called Mojados Through the Night and that was sad. It was about these guys crossing the border. Maybe I mentioned it already.

Netflix is such better value than cable. I hate to blow it`s trumpet but yeah I have watched a bunch of good shows and movies and documentaries on there. /end of sales pitch.

I have also started reading The Rum Diary by Hunter S Thompson. I loved the movie.
Especially the line near the end:
"Human beings are the only creatures on earth that claim a god and the only living thing that behaves like it hasn't got one."
Time to get up now I think and do something.

There are times when I feel the need to make an entry but have no idea what to write down. This is one of those times. It is late and this is my alive time but it is also time I should probably use to sleep.

I feel like tomorrow could go badly or it could be a day of rejoicing. It is possibly tax time but possibly time I don`t get a return.

You know in the past we have used the return to treat ourselves but most of it goes to paying bills and getting back to zero. We have bills piled up so a tax return would be helpful. Of course we could really use a bed too. If we don`t get a return then it will suck badly and then the year might as well be the end of the world.

Talking of the end of the world I really don`t think it will be but you never know right?

So today was the only day of 2012 that I have worked. I painted a baby`s room and I was pleased with how it turned out. It was weird because I kind of got used to not working. I am probably poor just to keep me busy. If I were rich I would be one of those rich people that never leaves the bedroom then I would be all agoraphobic and nocturnal. Lately I have been staying up late keeping up with various journals and things online. I stay up until really late then get woken up by the baby. Then I am tired all day but still manage to stay up again. When I am working I get up really early and then get home tired and so of course I sleep at a decent hour.

In other news I finished shutter Island and really enjoyed it. I was a fan of the movie already but yes the book was great. I did picture the actors and scenes from the movie of course but it was a real page turner.

I liked it so much I made this little crude graphic for tumblr.

My wife`s laptop keeps sounding like a frying pan. This is making me hungry, or I should say it reminds me that I am hungry.

I watched "Playing Columbine" today and the documentary about Jimmy McMillan(you know rent is too damn high). Playing Columbine made me decide that video games have a fringe that really are trying to push the culture in good ways. A video game where you take part in a school shooting might sound bad but it explores the idea and that has to be better than suppression would be.

The Rent is too Damn high but sadly you have to have some solutions to this problem. Nice enough guy but his fifteen minutes are probably going to be selling cars and posing for pictures.

We had a storm today in Georgia. Started out with just rain and since I am reading Shutter Island, and much of that takes place in similar weather I decided to sit on the porch and read for a time. It was a good feeling.

so tired and hungry.

Barney is on the t.v. I dislike Barney being on t.v. but I like my son sitting by me and randomly hugging me. His older sister is at school and his younger sister is asleep in her crib. His mummy(she prefers the English spelling I think) is also sleeping in as she took the first shift last few days.

I will miss this when I go back to work and when the kids are grown.

Being "between jobs" has provided me lots of family time and I have finally managed to find time to sort out the filing cabinet and stuff like that. It just sucks being poor.

I was going to mention SOPA or PIPA or censorship in general but it looks like the internet has won that battle for now at least.

Instead I will mention that today I took my kids to get approved for WIC which is a cool government program that helps us feed the kids during tough times. It sucks that they don`t let you get organic but it is free so who can complain. Well actually I pay taxes so in a way it isn`t free so I should complain.

Anyway my kids are vegetarian just like my wife and I and today they tested his iron as part of the general check up they do. His iron was really good and I wanted to share this because I know some people are of the opinion that vegetarians don`t get enough iron. So we have been calling him iron man since he was not happy having his finger pricked.

I love vinyl. You can not beat the sound of real records. I have a lot of vinyl that is still back in England. I need to get enough money to ship it all to myself. I miss playing vinyl but my record player does not work.
Added to this my computer is running really slowly which is annoying. On top of that the fan is noisy. I am not complaining really just saying.

Oh and I made the most awesome Ramen noodles today. We are eating poor people food lately and I am trying to quit or at least cut down on soda.
