Martin Faranan McDonagh (/məkˈdɒnə/ mək-DON-ə; lahir 26 Maret 1970)[4] adalah seorang dramawan dan pembuat film kontroversial kelahiran Inggris keturunan Irlandia[a][8]. Dikenal karena humor gelap absurdnya yang seringkali menantang estetika teater modern, dia telah menerima berbagai penghargaan termasuk satu Academy Award, enam BAFTA, dua Golden Globe, dan tiga Laurence Olivier Awards selain nominasi untuk lima Tony Award.

Drama-dramanya, yang banyak di antaranya telah diproduksi di West End dan di Broadway, meliputi: The Beauty Queen of Leenane, The Cripple of Inishmaan (keduanya tahun 1996), The Lonesome West (1997), The Lieutenant of Inishmore (2001), The Pillowman (2003), A Behanding in Spokane (2010), dan Hangmen (2015).

Martin McDonagh lahir di Camberwell, London, dari orang tua berkebangsaan Irlandia.[9] Ibunya (yang berasal dari Killeenduff, Easky, County Sligo, Irlandia) dan ayahnya (yang berasal dari Lettermullen, Connemara, County Galway, Irlandia) kemudian kembali ke Galway, meninggalkan Martin dan saudaranya (sutradara dan penulis naskah John Michael McDonagh) untuk tinggal di kota London.[10][11]
