⇱ High alert in Gurdaspur after blast in hospital emergency ward | The Indian Express

An explosion was reported Tuesday afternoon in the emergency ward of a private hospital near the bus stand in Kalanaur town, Gurdaspur. Local shopkeepers said the blast was incredibly loud and could be heard from a considerable distance. CCTV footage recovered from the area has since revealed images of a suspicious individual.

Upon receiving information about the incident, police rushed to the scene and launched an investigation into the cause. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.

SSP Aditya Sharma said that it was around 2:40 PM when they received information about the loud blast. “The local police officers rushed to the spot and collected vital clues. We will keep you informed of the investigation,” he said.

Interestingly, the police had conducted a flag march in the area just a day earlier.

The incident has heightened anxiety, given that Kalanaur is a key town situated near the Indo-Pak border. It sits just 17 kilometers from Adian village, where two policemen were recently shot dead at a border security check post.

The explosion adds to a string of recent security challenges in the region. Lately, another policeman was shot dead in Amritsar, and the suspects remain at large.

Additionally, unidentified individuals snatched a rifle from a police check post on the Harike Headworks bridge on Saturday night. Police have yet to report any breakthroughs or make any arrests in connection with these recent crimes.
