A minor girl was allegedly gangraped by two men employed at the Sharda Devi temple in Satna district, police said on Friday.
According to police, the two accused, Atul Kumar Bhadolia and Ravi Kumar, allegedly lured the girl to a forest area and raped her.
The girl had gone missing from her house at around 1pm on Thursday afternoon. After a search, her family members informed the local police. The girl returned on Friday and narrated her ordeal. A case was registered based on a complaint filed by the victim.
After the incident came to light, the Sharda Devi temple management committee removed the two accused from the temple committee stating that “their act is indecent and has tarnished the image of the temple committee.”
MP chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed concern over the incident. “I have received information about the rape case. My heart is full of pain, and I am distressed. I have instructed the police that no criminal should escape. The police have arrested the criminals. Instructions have been given to the administration to make arrangements for her treatment. No criminal will be spared, strict action will be taken,” the CM tweeted from his Twitter account.
Former CM Kamal Nath said “Madhya Pradesh, today is infamous in the country for rape and atrocities against women and children.”
“The incident of a minor’s rape…is highly condemnable. Like the Nirbhaya incident, the inhumane treatment of the girl child is also coming to the fore. Incidents of atrocities against girlshave proved that the state government has completely failed to provide security to sisters and daughters”, Nath wrote on his official Twitter account.
