⇱ Now, AAP to gherao Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal’s residence on Oct 9 | Chandigarh News - The Indian Express

After the Congress, it is now the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) that will gherao the residence of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on October 9.

While launching the Punjab Jodo campaign formally at Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall Sunday, the state president of AAP youth wing, Harjot Singh, said Badal is the number one enemy of Punjab, under whose leadership the state has been brought to its knees by his own government. Other AAP speakers also targeted the poor performance of SAD-BJP government.

Harjot Singh informed that the party plans to organise 39 rallies across Punjab, beginning from Nakodar where the first rally will be held on September 4, which would be attended by top party leadership, notably Sanjay Singh, in-charge, Punjab Affairs of AAP, Sangrur Lok Sabha MP Bhagwant S Mann and state convener Sucha S Chhottepur, said Harjot.

Later talking to the mediapersons on the sidelines, Harjot lamented that the Punjab youth is stuck in the malaise of drugs, while adding that during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, drugs emerged as the predominant issue, and the situation has not improved since then.

He said the kingpin of synthetic drugs, the dismissed Punjab Police, DSP Jagdish Bhola had openly named Punjab revenue minister Bikram Majithia, who was later questioned by the Enforcement Directorate, but the tragedy is that he is still occupying the chair of state cabinet minister.

Ruckus was created in the rally briefly on account of misbehaviour with a woman AAP worker, a lawyer herself, but it settled down soon after her denial of the same.

Other notable leaders present on the occasion were Dr H S Cheema and Rajiv Chaudhary.
