A 27-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by the conductor and driver of an Orbit bus, co-owned by deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, on Friday.
Maninder Singh Saini was admitted in civil hospital, Jalandhar, with two stitches on his head.
Saini, a volleyball player and coach in a school at Goraya in Jalandhar, had boarded a Chandigarh-bound Orbit bus from Amritsar this afternoon.
Saini said the driver and the conductor beat him up after he asked them to stop the bus at PAP Chowk.
“When I insisted. both started abusing me and even manhandled me,” he said.

He added that the driver them parked the bus near the Chowk and he, along with the conductor, also hit his head with a screw driver several times.
“When a woman raised an alarm, policemen deployed at PAP Chowk arrived and took Saini, along with the bus driver and conductor, to Ramamandi police station,” Saini said.
“I gave all the details to the police but they did not register any case against them,” said Saini who identified the conductor as Gurvir and driver as Gaurav.
Saini said the police allowed the two accused to take the bus.
Additional SHO, Ramamandi Police Station, Hans Raj said ASI Daljinder has been sent to civil hospital to take the victim’s statement.
No case was registered till the filing of the report.
In April, a 13-year-old girl had died after she was allegedly molested and pushed off a running Orbit bus in Moga.
After the incident stirred a major controversy, the operating staff of the bus service were sent for an orienation course to deal with passengers better.
