⇱ Punjab govt sells drugs: BSP at Banga | Chandigarh News - The Indian Express

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) criticised the Punjab government on its “failure” to address farmers’ concerns and drugs issues in the state. It termed the government as ‘nasha bechne wali sarkar’ (government which sells drugs).

The party Friday organised a rally in Banga of Nawanshahr district observing the ninth death anniversary of its founder Kanshi Ram. The party had won less than 2 per cent of the vote in the 2014 general election. It has pinned its hope on this rally to be a “show of strength” and according to a BSP leader, the crowd did not disappoint. “Our crowd is bigger than what the other parties managed for their rallies,” said Avtar Singh Karimpuri, BSP state president.

Narinder Kashyap, party national general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP, said,“Farmers who are supposed to farming their fields are on railway tracks.”

“Badal government had promised to provide atta at Rs 2 per kg and dal for Rs 20 per kg. But for the last two years no one has been getting this. What people are getting here instead? They are getting nasha (drugs),” he claimed.
