⇱ Telangana polls: Sandeep Shandilya and other IPS, IAS officers take charge after EC clears appointments | Hyderabad News - The Indian Express


Senior IPS officer Sandeep Shandilya was on Friday posted as police commissioner in Hyderabad after the Election Commission gave its approval. The government in Telangana, where Assembly polls have been announced, also appointed four district collectors, two more police commissioners, 10 superintendents of police and four department heads.

According to orders issued by Chief Secretary Shanthi Kumari, senior IAS officer Sunil Sharma (1990 batch) has been posted as special chief secretary (excise, commercial taxes and endowments) relieving herself of the charge. Another senior bureaucrat, 1995-batch IAS officer A Vani Prasad has been posted as principal secretary in charge of the transport department.

Senior IAS officer Jyoti Buddha Prakash has been posted as commissioner of the prohibition and excise department and another senior IAS officer, Christina Z Chongthu, has been posted as commissioner of the commercial taxes department. IAS officers Bharati Hollikeri, Gowtham Potru, Zendage Hanumant Kondiba and Ashish Sangwan have been posted as district collectors of Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Yadadri-Bhongir and Nirmal, respectively. Shandilya, a 1993-batch officer of the additional director-general rank, is currently director of the RBVRR Telangana State Police Academy.

The Election Commission of India on Wednesday transferred out 13 police commissioners and superintendents stating their performances were “unsatisfactory” and that they were“complacent, if not complicit” in various matters.

While nine of these 10 superintendents of police were non-cadre officers, the state has posted young IPS officers to these posts, following the commission’s directions. They were directed to take over on Friday. Many of them were posted earlier in the Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda commissionerates in various roles.

Subsequently, Amber Kishore Jha and Kalmeshwar Shingenavar have been posted as police commissioners of Warangal and Nizamabad, respectively. The government also posted Chennuri Rupesh as superintendents of police for Sangareddy, Sindhu Sharma (Kamareddy), Sunpreet Singh (Jagityal), Harshvardhan (Mahabubnagar), Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath (Nagarkurnool), Rithiraj (Jogulamba Gadwal), Patil Sangram Singh Ganpatrao (Mahbubabad), Yogesh Gautam (Narayanpet), Khare Kiran Prabhakar (Jayashankar Bhupalpally) and BK Rahul Hegde (Suryapet).

Among those who were abruptly transferred out were district collectors Vinay Kumar Reddy of Yadadri-Bhuvanagari, K Varun Reddy of Nirmal, Harish Reddy of Rangareddy and D Amoy Kumar of Medchal-Malkajgiri. Musharraf Faruqui, director of the prohibition and excise department, Commissioner of Commercial Taxes TK Sridevi and Secretary (Transport) KS Srinivasa Raju were among the other transferred bureaucrats.

Hyderabad police commissioner CV Anand, Warangal commissioner AV Ranganath, Nizamabad commissioner V Satyanarayana, and superintendents of police Rajendra Prasad (Suryapet), M Ramana Kumar (Sangareddy), B Srinivas Reddy (Kamareddy), A Bhaskar (Jagityal), K Narsimha (Mahabubnagar), K Manohar (Nagarkurnool), K Srujana (Jogulamba Gadwal), G Chandra Mohan (Mahbubabad), N Venkateshwarlu (Narayanapet) and P Karunakar (Jayashankar Bhupalpally) were also moved out.
