One militant was killed Monday evening in a gunfight with security forces in Reasi district, sources and officials said.

The gunfight was ongoing until the last reports came in.

Another militant was holed up inside a house at Tikli-B village in Tuli Basana, sources said, adding that a police personnel was also injured in the exchange of fire.

Defence PRO Suneel Bartwal said the operation was conducted by joint teams of the Army and the J&K Police.

More details are being ascertained, Bartwal said.

Sources said the gunfight erupted after the police, acting on a tip-off, cordoned the village. They said the two militants entered a house in the village Monday morning and asked the family to prepare tea for them and later also wanted to take a nap.

The family members managed to come out of the house, after which one of them informed the nearby police picket.
