Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) president Prakash Ambedkar said on Tuesday that after the results of elections in five states, “it is possible that some corner of the country will witness mayhem”. Ambedkar also spoke out against the attempts being made “to pit one community against the another in the name of reservation” and “to call the country a Hindu Rashtra”.

“After December 6, that means after Mahaparinirvan Diwas, anything can happen in the country. You can cross-check this at any police station,” the VBA chief told reporters in Pune. December 6 is observed as Mahaparinirvan Diwas or the death anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar.

“After the election results of five states, the situation in the country might turn serious…Five states in the country are currently going to polls. Their results will be declared after December 3. After December 3, it is possible that some corner of the country will witness mayhem,” he said.

“Muslims are already being targeted. Those who have nothing to do with OBCs’ struggle for reservation are trying to take over and spark violence,” Ambedkar alleged, referring to the recent agitation for Maratha reservation and the pushback by the OBC community.

In a veiled attack on BJP, Ambedkar said, “Today, attempts are made to pit one community against the another in the name of reservation. Instead of bringing an end to it, they are adding fuel to the fire. The country witnessed Godhra in 2002; in 2023, Manipur happened. After December 3, something on a similar scale might take place in the country.”

“Attempts are being made to call the country a Hindu Rashtra. They are saying now Hindus are ruling the country. No one is trying to understand the seriousness of such a statement. They are calling for ushering in Vedic tradition once again and changing the Constitution,” he further said.

Alleging that the RSS and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad were maintaining a silence, Ambedkar said, “[Deputy Chief Minister Devendra] Fadnavis has claimed that no one can change the Constitution. No one will believe his word….”
