Tamil Nadu Government to accord State honours to Bharathiraja

Joseph Vijay said the State government would accord State honours for director Bharathiraja’s funeral.The move comes after the Tamil Film Active Producers Association (TFAPA), an organization co-founded by Bharathiraja in 2020, appealed to the state government to honour him with official recognition. In its statement, TFAPA hailed Bharathiraja as one of the most influential figures in Indian cinema, highlighting his six National Film Awards, multiple state honours, and the Padma Shri. The association also remembered his leadership and unwavering commitment to the welfare of producers, artists, and the growth of Tamil cinema, noting that under his guidance, TFAPA grew to represent more than 400 active producers.
