⇱ HC adjourns Kodnani’s bail plea till July 30 | India News - The Indian Express

The Gujarat High Court on Monday adjourned the bail plea of former minister Maya Kodnani, convicted in the 2002 Naroda Patiya riot case, till July 30 after her lawyer sought time to submit some documents.

Last week, Kodnani’s case was placed before a bench of Justices A S Dave and Sonia Gokani, who recused themselves from hearing the case.

Kodnani has moved the petition on the grounds of merit of the case as well as her health condition. She has contended that the lower court overlooked several facts which were in her favour while pronouncing the order. She has said the 11 witnesses, on whose statements she was convicted, are not reliable and full of discrepancies.

Besides, she said the statements of a number of witnesses of prosecution that favoured her case were ignored by the lower court. She also said there was ample evidence that proves she was not at the spot when the riots broke out at Naroda Patiya which was neglected by the lower court.
