Vijay had unveiled his 33-member Cabinet on May 24. The CM kept Home, Police, General Administration, Women Welfare and Municipal Administration departments. The finance department went to former AIADMK veteran K A Sengottaiyan, while health, medical education and family welfare went to Dr K G Arunraj. Arakkonam MLA V Gandhiraj, Sriperumbudur MLA K Thennarasu, Avinashi MLA S Kamali, Rasipuram MLA D Logesh Tamilselvan, and Ottapidaram MLA P Mathan Raja became Dalit representative members of Vijay-led TVK government.
The Opposition AIADMK faced an internal split, with a rebel faction of MLAs led by S P Velumani and C V Shanmugam reportedly expressing interest in aligning with Vijay’s TVK.
However, on May 27, SP Velumani reaffirmed his support for AIADMK party and General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, signalling a continued backing amid speculation over internal divisions.
