Durga for World meet
HALDIA: West Bengal’s Durga Midya will be the only Asian representative in the 100-metre sprint of this year’s World Athletics Championship for the blind to be held in Spain’s Seville.
Midya would be vying with seven other compatriots from different countries in the women’s section.
The 24-year old girl works. Durga had earlier taken part in another world meet for the blind in Spain and reached the semi-finals by clocking 12.62 second.
Sricharanya ahead
BANGALORE: Unseeded T Sricharanya of Tamil Nadu fired out statemate and sixth seed M V Preetam while other fancied players advanced into the quarterfinals with easy victories in AITA State Karnataka Open women’s tennis championships on the second day. Sricharanya won 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 7-1.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Women’s Hockey Federation IWHF on Tuesday announced a list of 22 probables for the four-nation Junior Hockey Tournament to be held in New Jersey, from June 24 to 27.
