Two children hurt in blast

The injured Balkrishna Pawar 14 and Sandeep Pawar 12 were rushed to Bhagwati hospital. Two months ago a film had been shot at the same ground where a scene of explosion had been enacted. It was possible that one of the bombs used in the shooting could have been left over at the site, police said adding that a case of negligence had been registered.

Railway workers threaten stir

The Indian Railway Technical Staff Association has demanded better wages for its members and the scrapping of the Anomalies Committee, which was constituted to look into the problems regarding the Fifth PayCommission. It has also called for an increase in the number of promotions for the technical staff and the formation of a separate pay commission for railways. It also wants the vacancies in the organisation to be filled up.

Case on cruelty to circus animals

The complaint was lodged by Ahimsa’, an organisation striving for welfare of animals.

According to Dr Satnam Ahuja, secretary of Ahimsa, she was informed about cruelty to animals by a visitor to the circus on Saturday. Ahuja, who is also animal welfare officer appointed by Animal Welfare Board, alleged that elephants were tied to iron stripes and were suffering from footrot’ cracks in feet.
