Under these circumstances, would it be sagacious to move the peace initiative forward? Surely Islamabad would now be a very unsafe place to hold the Saarc summit.

8226; Knowing President Pervez Musharraf very well, one must not rule out the possibility of these ‘‘attempts’’ on his life being staged at the behest of the general himself ‘We strongly condemn, says Delhi, wary of Saarc security’, IE, December 26.
In fact, that they come so close to the Saarc meeting only strengthens this suspicion.

We have barely restored the status quo that obtained before before the attack on Parliament House and the writer jumps to demand the return of the Pandits. There is still a long way to go and many hurdles to cross.
