With the inter-state transfers ending on June 15, the top clubs across the country have been busy recruiting players. And the Africans were once again most in demand. Following is a low down on the hits and misses:
East Bengal:
New buys: I M Vijayan, Jatinder Singh Bisht, Arun Malhotra, and K Kulothungan. last three from Mahindra United
Whom they have lost: Dipak Mondal, Subhashish Roy Chowdhury, and Subhas Chakraborty Mahindra United.
Tussling over: Cowan lawrence Mahindra, and Sangram Mukherjee Salgaocar.
Mohun bagan:
Having just about survived relegation, the century-old club has been busy getting their house in order.
New buys: Dipendu Biswas Mahindra United
Looking for: Ranty Martins FC Dempo
Whom they have lost: Renedy Singh and Sunil Chettri.
Mohammedan sporting:
Having been promoted to the elite league for next season, the club has been busy retaining their old hands and at the same time trying to get some new faces.
New buys: Arindam Ghosh and Kabijit Kotel Tollygunge Agragami.
Mahindra united:
Considered the richest club of India, the Mumbai-based side has again managed to assemble an impressive line-up this season despite desperate advances from the Kolkata clubs.
New buys: Dipak Mondal, Subhashsih Roy Chowdhury, Subhash Chakraborty East Bengal, Surajit Bose Tollygunge Agragami, and Yusif Yakubu Churchill Brothers.
FC Dempo:
NFL and Federation Cup champions are keeping their fingers crossed over their trump card Ranty Martins.
No new buys and a tussle over Ranty Martins with Mohun Bagan
Sporting club de goa:
Unlike Dempo, the National League runners-up have managed to retain their ace striker Dudu Omagbemi for next season.
New buy: Rajesh Meetei yet to be released by Bagan
Salgaocar:
The former NFL champions are keeping it low profile this season, retaining old hands like Robert Fernandes, Juje Siddi and Ramos Gomes.
New buys: Selwyn Fernandes East Bengal and Agnelo Colaco Vasco.
