Montoya in pits, twice

Alonso hits wall

8226; A rare mistake by Fernando Alonso and continuing bad luck for Italian Giancarlo Fisichella left Renault empty-handed.

Alonso hit the wall on turn four while leading and retired on the 39th of 70 laps.

Fisichella had retired three laps earlier, after leading from the start, with a hydraulics problem.

Button crashes

Jenson Button shouldered the blame for the crash that prevented BAR scoring their first points of the season. After starting on pole position, Button retired when he hit the ‘Wall of Champions’ at the final turn with 23 laps remaining.
