HOW fickle Bollywoodwalas are… Urmila Matondkar, who publicly bitched and bitched about critic-turned-director Khalid Mohammed when he dropped her like a hot potato from Fiza and replaced her with the much more saleable Karisma Kapoor, is now doing the filmmaker’s forthcoming film, Tehzeeb. In the three-heroine film, Urmila will play the daughter of Shabana Azmi who played her mum years ago in Shekhar Kapur’s Masoom. The third actress in the film is Diya Mirza, we hear. Meanwhile, Mohammed is still waiting for the release of Tareekh, a shoe-string budget project he directed with Raveena Tandon, which has been endlessly delayed because of problems between the film’s two producers, Shantanu Sheroey and iDream Productions.
Saathiya indeed
Jackie Shroff: ‘‘A gorgeous woman like Aishwarya deserves a handsome man like Tom Cruise or Brad Pitt opposite her. And both are such fine actors too…’’
Zeenat Aman: ‘‘Someone who is good-looking, charming, and a credible actor. Because that’s a very significant role, and wrong casting can totally upset the project. I vote for Tom Cruise.’’
Madhu Sapre: ‘‘Anyone who can hold his own opposite Ash. She’s not only a beautiful woman, she’s also a fantastic actress. The man will have to match that!’’
Asif Kapadia: ‘‘Colin Firth played Mr Darcy in the BBC miniseries. He’s a charismatic actor, and they need someone of that nature.’’
