Revealing that some of his players couldn’t sleep last night following the doping controversy, Pakistan skipper Younis Khan today thanked Indian fans for the support that kept them going till their win against Sri Lanka.
“We are a Muslim team, we are strong. The pressure was there but a loss here would have given people more to talk about. Some of the players couldn’t sleep last night. But I am always a relaxed man. More the tension, more relaxed I am. We had faith in Allah, we supported each other,” said Younis. “We have always got good support from the Indian fans, just like India always enjoy good support when they play in Pakistan,” he added.
Attributing today’s win to his players playing as a team, Younis said, “We wanted to play positive cricket. The seniors in the team, myself, Mohammad Yousuf and Razzaq have always played positive cricket. We played as a team and won as a team.”
Detailing his approach as captain, Younis added: “The last one week, the players had real fun. I wanted the youngsters in the team to have a positive feeling. We went to movies and did what not. I wanted to get the best out of them. We are here to win, and that’s what has held us together. We are still strong and we want to remain in so in the rest of the matches.”
