Jaiswal loves to play on the rise, ride the bounce and drive through the covers. It could be a productive stroke in Australia—both VVS Laxman and Sachin Tendulkar were exceptional at that—but it could also undo him, Hayden warns.
There is a gushing excitement about Yashasvi Jaiswal around the cricketing world. The 22-year-old’s entry into Test cricket has been so prolific—1028 runs at 68.53 in 16 innings, a hundred every fourth outing—that he has developed the outlines of an aura. But sterner tests await him, like the tour to Australia, where a well-worn, well-rounded attack would put both his technique and temperament to test on hard and bouncy tracks. (READ MORE)

England vs Sri Lanka Live Score, 1st Test: Stumps
And that will be stumps on Day 2 as the light continues to stay poor and the umpires have reckoned that the match cannot be continued. That's it for today folks.
England vs Sri Lanka Live Score, 1st Test: Bad light halts play
Umpires have their light meter out and they tell Sri Lanka they can't conttinue bowling with pacers in this condition. If they can bowl spinners, then they can continue so SL go off along with England openers as bad light halts play. And there's a slight drizzle too.
England vs Sri Lanka Live Score, 1st Test: Woakes gone
AND THAT'S ANOTHER GONE FOR ENGLAND!! Jayasuriya with a beauty of a ball again and Woakes is gone as his stumps have been rattled!!

After 56 overs, England are 231/5.
England vs Sri Lanka Live Score, 1st Test: ENG slowly chipping away
We are deep into the third session and England are slowly chipping away at the target, trailing by just 16 runs at the moment. Fernando again with the ball and yields just 1 from the over. ENG 15 runs behind now.

England vs Sri Lanka Live Score, 1st Test: Smith with a 4!
We are back from break and Jayasuriya will be bowling this one. After some initial quieter deliveries, Smith plays a beautiful cover drive for a four!!
After 38 overs, England are 182/4.
England vs Sri Lanka Live Score, 1st Test: Tea Break
Vishwa Fernando in to bowl what will be the last over of this session and England will be looking to go into Tea unscathed. Brook and Smith ensure that with just a single from this one.
At Tea, England are 176/4.
England vs Sri Lanka Live Score, 1st Test: Fifty for Brook!
Harry Brook brings up his half-century with a drive through the covers. The outfield has been pretty slow from all the rain before so the ball doesn't carry to the fence but there's time enough to complete three runs.
First half-century from an England batter this game, and you can't say he doesn't deserve it. Was surprisingly orthodox, took his time and only punished the deliveries that deserved so. But maybe that's what England needed with all the business that the top order has indulged in outside off stump deliveries today. After 35 overs, the score reads 171/4.
England vs Sri Lanka Live Score, 1st Test: 150 up!
Another exquisite shot off Harry Brook's willow. Vishwa Fernando dishes in a fullish delivery and Brook positions himself to execute a perfect on-drive. Mid-on doesn't move a muscle to pursue what is a lost cause. It's racing towards the fence for four. A fourth boundary for Brook.
After 33 overs, England are 160/4.
England vs Sri Lanka Live Score, 1st Test: 30 overs done!
Jamie Smith joins Harry Brook in the middle, and gets off the mark in typical Bazball fashion. A loose delivery from Asitha Fernando down the leg stump and Smith flicks it behind square for four.
A couple overs later, Brook nails another off drive - he's done it previously as well today. This time, off Milan Rathnayake, full and outside off, picked clean, no need to run. England, 146/4 after 30 overs. This, their slowest trudge to a fifty so far this innings.
England vs Sri Lanka Live Score, 1st Test: Root plucked by Chandimal!
Asitha Fernando snaps a third wicket for Sri Lanka! Joe Root perishes.
Another delivery straying away from the batter, poked, and England have to pay the price. But what a fine catch from Chandimal behind the stumps, that one was low and he's managed to hold onto it cleanly. A crucial partnership is broken and Sri Lanka are back at it. 129/4 after 26 overs.
England vs Sri Lanka Live Score, 1st Test: 50-run partnership up!
Harry Brook and Joe Root continue to mount a strong stand. The pace has stedied a bit since the 20-over mark. Root is in his 40s but it's Brook who has had more of the strike in the past 24 deliveries.
After 24 overs, the scoreboard reads 117/3. England have been good at negotiating with the spinners so far, after a below-par outing against the Lankan seamers, poking the outside-off deliveries one too many times and paying the price for it.
England vs Sri Lanka Live Score, 1st Test: 100 up!
England cross the second milestone quicker than their first. Nothing new here. Despite the fall of wickets, the batters haven't given up on their approach. The one they've kept for the past two years.
There were a couple of sensational strokes from Joe Root previously, now Harry Brook demonstrates the aesthetics of a cover drive off Asitha Fernando. England, 106/3 after 20 overs.
England vs Sri Lanka Live Score, 1st Test: Brook-Root switch the gear!
Milan Rathnayake into the attack. Harry Brook drives him through mid-on, and despite a decent effort from the fielder in the deep to get to the ball, gets a four.
Joe Root then concludes the over with consecutive boundaries. The first, with another on-drive through mid-on for four. Second, with a straight drive hit with perfection. England, 94/3 after 18 overs.
England vs Sri Lanka Live Score, 1st Test: Lawrence bites the dust!
The other Fernando strikes! That's a soft dismissal.
Vishwa Fernando with a short of a length delivery shaping away from the batter, Lawrence has a poke at it and edges it clean for Chandimal to collect diving to his right. A third wicket for Sri Lanka and England are in trouble here. 69/3 after 15 overs.
England vs Sri Lanka Live Score, 1st Test: 50 up!
England cross the fifty run milestone with Joe Root having accompanied Daniel Lawrence in the middle. Root finds early luck, surviving an outside edge after poking a delivery that shapes away from the right-hander. It splits the fielder at gully and second slip for four.
Daniel Lawrence with consecutive boundaries off Sri Lanka's wicket-taking bowler this morning. Asitha Fernando short on a couple of instances and is dispatched for a four through the deep mid-wicket region followed by another down the deep square leg. Nine runs from the over. England are 62/2.
England vs Sri Lanka Live Score, 1st Test: BOWLED!
Ollie Pope is cleaned up! Asitha Fernando gets a second.
An even better delivery this from the Sri Lankan seamer, skiddy, back of a length, nips back in to go through the England skipper's defence.
Sri Lanka have a second wicket since the start of play. England, 43/2 after nine overs.
England vs Sri Lanka Live Score, 1st Test: First boundary of the day!
England's stand-in skipper Ollie Pope with the first boundary of Day 2. Vishwa Fernando goes short and wide outside the off stump and Pope meets it with a square cut that fetches him four runs. After eight overs, England are 39/1.
England vs Sri Lanka Live Score, 1st Test: WICKET!
An early breakthrough for Sri Lanka! Asitha Fernando strikes. A fine review in the end that gives him a wicket. That was pitched on the leg stump but slightly nipped back in. Dhananjaya de Silva persists with his bowler and Ben Duckett has to walk back. England, 32/1 after seven overs.
England vs Sri Lanka Live Score, 1st Test: Play begins!
And so we are underway at the Old Trafford. Asitha Fernando to bowl the first over of Day 2. And he induces an lbw appeal against Daniel Lawrence but the umpire reckons it's sliding down the leg side. Five runs come from the first over. England are 27/0. Trailing by 209 runs.

Chris Woakes was the pick of the bowlers for England on Day 1, snapping three wickets in the first innings. In the post-Anderson (and Broad) era, with England still managing their first-choice new ball combination, Woakes has presented himself as a suitable candidate for taking the onus upon himself.
"I’ll play for England where I’m picked to play for England. I certainly wouldn’t rule myself out," he said after Day 1. "The selectors will have their plans, but I’m certainly not going to turn down a tour if selected. We shall see." England are scheduled to play a three-Test series this December. Woakes has not been taken on the tours of Pakistan, New Zealand or India since captain Ben Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum took charge.

England vs Sri Lanka Live Score, 1st Test: Hello and welcome!
Another Test cricket day, life is good!
A solid show from England's bowlers put them in the driving seat against Sri Lanka as early as Day 1 of the first Test of the three match series. With all 10 wickets intact, they trail by a mere 214 runs. Past few years have been proof enough, it's Bazball time. Can Sri Lanka, who registered a historic ODI series win against India - albeit at home, in a different format - lure the English batters in a spin trap? Day 2 action awaits at Old Trafford.
