The incident, which took place at the Lehman High School in Kyle, was captured by one of the students in the classroom.

Take a look at the video here:

In the now-viral video, a 16-year-old special needs girl student can be seen striking the substitute teacher in the face, before being repeatedly punched on the face by the latter. Lankford then wrestles her to the ground before kicking her in the face.

Responding to the incident, the Hays Consolidated Independent School District in a statement said that they don’t tolerate such violent behaviour at school. They also said that keeping the safety of the student in mind, they will do everything necessary to make her feel protected.

According to the police, Lankford, who previously had a domestic assault charge against her, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

The teens family responded to the incident through their lawyer and said that they were extremely disturbed by the events. The victim had sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.
