Hottest Cities in India on May 21, 2025: On Wednesday, after Delhi registered the season’s highest minimum temperature of 30.2 degrees Celsius, hailstorms, rain, and thunderstorms provided much-needed relief to the city.
While the capital saw a sharp drop in temperatures in many parts of the city due to pre-monsoon showers and storms, many states in northern and central India are experiencing extreme heat and ‘above normal’ temperatures in May, according to the India Meteorological Department.
The India Meteorological Department on X said that 20 cities in four Indian states – Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh – witnessed the highest temperatures on Wednesday, May 21.
Ganganagar in Rajasthan recorded the highest maximum temperature at a scorching 47.6°C, closely followed by Pilani at 47.2°C, which also showed the highest departure from normal with a deviation of +6.1°C.
Rajasthan experienced the most intense heat overall, with ten locations exceeding 44°C.
