Weather Forecast Today News Updates: Delhi is likely to experience respite from the increasing heat today with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting rainfall with thunderstorm and lightning, triggered by an approaching western disturbance. However, it is likely that temperature will soar past 40 degrees once again in the city after the rainfall subsides.
In a welcome change, the national capital received brief relief from the ongoing heat spell along with a dust storm on Thursday. with IMD forecasting rain and thunderstorms.
The IMD Friday also warned of a fresh spell of heat wave likely to commence over parts of northwest India and over
Gujarat from April 15.
On Thursday, April 11, the IMD issued an Orange alert for eight states, warning of heavy rainfall in isolated areas. The affected regions include parts of West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Kerala, and Mahe.
At the same time, a Yellow alert was issued for several other states, including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, and Assam, with forecasts of lightning and gusty winds.
Temperatures across Northwest India are likely to dip by 3–5 degree Celsius over the next three days, followed by a gradual rise of 2–4 degree Celsius over the subsequent four days. A similar cooling trend is expected across Central and West India, with temperatures in West India set to rise again gradually.
However, the respite may be short-lived. A fresh spell of heatwave conditions is very likely to prevail over West Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab from April 14-16. Isolated areas in Rajasthan may also experience dust storms. Meanwhile, hot and humid conditions are likely to persist along the coastal regions of Gujarat and Maharashtra.
