Karnataka election result: How Kumaraswamy's JD(S) managed to consolidate votes from Congress and BJP
HD Kumaraswamy's Janata Dal (Secular) managed to eat into Congress votes by appealing to all those who wanted a change of government. In some places where the BJP did not have much hope of winning, it attempted to transfer its votes to the JD(S) to make sure those votes did not go to the Congress. As a result, JD(S) emerged a dark horse.
