Diana Wynne Jones has died. She was never as famous an author of children's fantasy as J.K. Rowling, but she should have been. Her books were wildly imaginative, funny and clever ranging from charming romps like "Howl's Moving Castle" to the darker "Fire and Hemlock". If anything her books were almost too original for mass popularity because by the end of one of her books she'd often turned everything you thought you knew about what she was writing on its head. To quote Neil Gaiman on Twitter "You shone like a star. The funniest, wisest, writer..."
