Happy Easter to all who celebrate it. I am not at all religious but even I find it strange that the churches are shut so how those for whom Easter is such an important religious festival feel I can't imagine. It would also have been my father-in-law's birthday today but he hasn't been around to celebrate it for the past 35 years, which is another sadness.

On a more cheery note we can hear wood pigeons again. I may not be quite so thrilled about that if they come any closer but at the moment it's nice to hear their cooing. Our road is not particularly noisy anyway but the absence of planes and traffic on the main roads in the distance has made it even quieter.

I am ashamed to say I wronged both our garden waste collectors, who turned up for the usual fortnightly collection at the normal time, and Boots, who not only had my prescription ready but also could do Rex's as well. They were doing very well with the social distancing as it is only a small branch but were controlling access on the door and had the floor marked out every 2 metres so we could wait to be seen safely. Hopefully I won't have to go back for a while as actually getting there is a bit alarming. It is a route I have walked most days for the last 30 years but now it is like being in some strange computer game. Will the person walking towards me transfixed by her phone observe the proper distance or is it down to me to get out of her way? Is that cyclist on the pavement going to run me down despite the fact the main road is empty and there is a cycle lane? Should I leap behind a tree to steer clear of the jogger I hear behind me? And so on...

Enough of that. As the weather has been beautiful for the last couple of days I have taken some photos of the blossom in my garden and some rather blowzy tulips that have survived the squirrels.

Back to the meme.
9. Whether you really believe in them or not, do you have any superstitions?

I am very weird about odd and even numbers. I will never leave an uneven number of unread emails in my inbox but where that came from I have no idea.

10. Do you prefer to write with a pen, pencil, or other writing utensil?

I type more than I write these days but when I do write I use a nice ballpoint that J bought me years ago.

11. It’s Celebrate Teen Lit Day! What’s a favorite book from your teen years?

I have many but I have to put The Lord of the Rings first. I think there are parts of it I must know off by heart as Tolkien quotes still pop into my head at times.

12. What is your favorite snack food?

I try not to eat them too often as I can't stop once I start but Twiglets have been a favourite for years.

The rest of the April questions behind the cut

Then grace us with your thoughts about his plays.
