The weather has changed really suddenly and today feels rather colder than we have been used to recently. We had to have an electrician in to fix a bathroom light but that is really the sum total of recent excitement. I have also downloaded the NHS coronavirus app as my phone will accept it but J's won't. We'll see how that goes. A lot of people seem worried about the amount of data we might be giving away but you only have to put in half your postcode and we give away so much data without realising it anyway that I am not too concerned about that.
It is very hard to keep positive at the moment but an article in the paper suggested concentrating on one day at a time and trying not to look ahead too far. I think I shall give that a go. I have booked myself on to an online talk at the British Library about cookery book collections, which is part of the British Library Food season that we were supposed to be going to back in May and June, and I shall look out for a few other things to do now that the weather is turning.
We would usually be looking forward to the London Film Festival at this time and it is going ahead but not really anywhere we can get to. Some films will be shown online but our TV is too old, at all of 7 years, to use the BFI app. We may be able to mirror using J's laptop but at the moment I am thinking of holding our own Film Festival as we have enough on DVD and TiVo to come up with quite a varied schedule ourselves. That may be my next project.
Meanwhile on with the meme.
22. Do you have an inanimate object that you have given a name?Apart from soft toys various our car used to have a name. It was known as Bunty for reasons too complicated to begin to explain.
23 Whatβs your favorite Elton John song, and why? That's a tricky one as I like Elton John and have seen him live, once for an entire concert and once when he threw a tantrum and flounced off stage. Choosing just one song is hard so
Don't Go Breaking My Heart is not necessarily my favourite but I can give a reason for liking it as it brings back memories of going on holiday as a family and it being on the radio as we were driving up to Scotland and singing along with Elton and Kiki.
24. If you could choose any animal as a pet (all problems aside), which one would you have and why?I had a toy elephant which I was given as a baby and that has led to a lifelong love of elephants. I would choose an elephant, but not really as a pet, as they should be left in the wild undisturbed and free from poachers.
The rest of the September questions are behind the cut
