Given that I haven't been doing very well lately wrt going out and that my flat is now sorted enough to have people around, I'd like to invite you all to come around for a night of nibbles, wine and talking. Possible dates - I'm not aware of any conflicts, please let me know if I've missed something:

Whoo, apparently I can post to LJ from work, as long as it's not my LJ! (Well, I could post but then I wouldn't be able to read it or reply to comments!) I am bored at work and excited about the weekend and have been looking at possible walks around the White Horse, Uffington Castle and Wayland's Smithy on Saturday if people are interested? Does anyone else have any ideas? Does anyone have a decent map of the area? ( Cotswolds walking routes and mapCollapse ) |

I've got a horrible feeling that the fabulous British summer might thwart Thursdays evening picnic plans. I'm working on Wednesday, but if 👁 Image easterbunny doesn't mind, how about we relocate Thursdays trip to http://www.hispaniola.co.uk? |

I think the date that's easiest for everyone is Thursday 14th August. That was the easy bit, but where are we going? There are so many options, I've picked out a few random ones, but if anyone has any suggestions that would be good. Shall we aim to decide by Monday? GordonsA wine bar near to Embankment station. You can take wine and glasses into the Victoria Embankment Gardens. They sell food or we could even bring food to share in the park and have an evening picnic. Possibly moving on to the southbank for dessert or cocktails - because they're lacking on those: http://www.gordonswinebar.comPing PongFabulous little parcels of yumminess, flowers in your tea and special cocktails in Soho or Waterloo, for : http://www.pingpongdimsum.comLa PerlaA Mexican place on in Covent Garden. It has a happy hour 4-7 and a pretty good menu. Ian says I've been there before and wasn't sure about the food, but I can't remember that, and it sounds ok: http://www.cafepacifico-laperla.comEdit: Poll seems to have failed... trying again!

It's sunny, it's summer, and the whole year feels like it's been too full of tears and trauma for everyone. In the name of ceasing misery and promoting cheeriness, I propose cocktails, sometime soon, somewhere nice. Any one fancy it?

Just a thought, re country weekends, do we have enough drivers with cars who are willing to give lifts? Or indeed enough drivers prepared to hire cars and give lifts? I can theoretically drive (have a licence) but haven't done so for more than six years and would really need some lessons before I got back behind the wheel so I wouldn't really like to volunteer unless the situation was desperate. The loveliest places tend to be the hardest to reach by public transport, of course! |
